Machines, systems, products, processes, people - the future belongs to networking. In the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), the accumulated data is aggregated and evaluated on software platforms, the data becomes information. The result: a wealth of new possibilities. Internal processes can be optimized and the customer can be offered new, data-based services in addition to the product. While industrial companies are increasingly developing their own IIoT platforms and bringing them to the market, SMEs are still reacting cautiously. "The topic of platform economics is an essential part of the board and management level," Hartmut Rauen, deputy managing director of the VDMA, urges.
In a joint event - specifically addressed to medium-sized, manufacturing companies in Bavaria - the dual topic platform Digital Production & Engineering of the ZD.B, the VDMA Bavaria and the IoT laboratory of HS Landshut want to close this gap in a joint event. In four sessions, we prepare the topic: (1) Which IIoT platforms already exist, what distinguishes them, what are technical prerequisites / fundamentals; (2) data security, data sovereignty, legal aspects; (3) Implement appropriate solutions, build structures and competencies, and (4) provide best practice examples and talk about new business model opportunities. Konstantin Kernschmidt, Project Coordinator Industry 4.0 of Industry Business Network 4.0 e.V., will give a presentation on the solutions of the association. "We will show that, based on a manufacturer-independent standard, even SMEs can make a cost-effective entry into networked production - with tangible added value."
